Itinerary

Arrival at Bandaranayke International airport at 0145hrs. On arrival the group will be greeted by the representatives of Asia Truly Asia and introduce to the local guide who will be accompanying them around the Island.

Day 2 :

This morning, proceed on a city tour of Colombo. Take a drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street – the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings and the Dutch

Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and Independence Square.

Afternoon Street Food Tour by Tuk Tuk Approximately 2 – 3 hours time.

Arrive in Dambulla and visit Dambulla cave temple.

Dambulla

Dambulla is famous for the five cave temples on a rock. The first 03 caves are better, older and larger than the other two. Some caves dates to 1st C.B.C. All the 5 cave walls and ceilings are covered with Buddhist murals and there are more than 130 Buddha statues, also statues of Gods and Kings are found here.

Afternoon proceed to visit Sigiriya.

Sigiriya – is home to the 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky” which is perhaps the most fantastic single wonder of the Island. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the fortress. Within its triple-moated defence the huge rock rises almost to a sheer height of 500ft. On its summit are the foundations of what was once a great and sumptuous palace and gardens complete with swimming pool. On one of the stairways the only known ancient work of Sinhala secular painting survived in the form of Frescoes of life sized damsels in all the freshness and delicacy of their original colour.

Breakfast at the hotel,after poroceed to Minneriya National park

Enjoy a safari of the Minneriya National Park by jeep. The extent of the Minneriya National Park is about 8,889 hectares. There are wet-lands in this National Park, which have international importance, animal and plant species, which are plenty in dry zone, are found in this park.

Wild elephants, various amphibians, local and immigrant bird species are plenty in this park. About 160 species of birds, 09 amphibians, 25 reptile species, 26 fish species and more than 78 butterfly species have been found in this area. There are bamboo trees which are rare in other parks and wild elephants can be seen conveniently. The significant feature is that these elephants can be seen going closer to them.

After breakfast at the hotel proceed to Kandy en route, visit a batik factory and spice garden at Matale and see the luscious Cinnamons, Cardamoms, Pepper plants etc.

Arrive in Kandy and enjoy city tour of Kandy.

Visit the Temple of tooth relic, Royal Botanical Garden and Gem Museum.

Kandy

The hill capital, venue of the annual Perahera. The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Temples, shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere.

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic

Ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess’ hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka’s most prized possession.

After breakfast proceed to Peradeniya and visit,
Royal Botanical Gardens

147 acres in extent: started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the Kings of Kandy. There are more than 5000 species of trees and plants. Some and endemic as well as flora from the tropical world. Spice garden and Orchid House are popular with tourists.

In the evening you can witness the Kandy Cultural Dance Performance

After breakfast at the hotel proceed to Ramboda and visit Water fall and tea plantation on the way.

Arrive in Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya

The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of mountains, valleys, waterfalls and tea plantations. It is supposed to be one of the coldest places on the island but is just like a British spring day although the temperature does drop at night.
All around Nuwara Eliya, you will see evidence of the British influence. Houses are like country cottages or Queen Ann style mansions.
Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

After breakfast proceed to visit Horton Plains.
Horton Plains National Park (is a national park in the central highlands of Sri Lanka that was designated in 1988. It is located at an elevation of 2,100–2,300 m (6,900–7,500 ft) and encompasses montane grassland and cloud forest. It is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region.

The star attraction of this national park is the World’s End, which is where the plateau of the park comes to a sudden end and has a deep plunge of over 800 meters. On clear days, you can see Adam’s Peak from the World’s End. In fact, these mountains turn into plains which goes up to the ocean, around eighty kilometers away, which can be seen lurking in the horizon.

06 miles from Bandarawela on the Bandarawela – Wellawaya road is the Ella gap with a view of the Kataragama range of mountains at the distance. The Patna grasslands, Ravana Ella waterfalls (1080 ft. high) and Randeniwela monument could be seen on this route.

After breakfast proceed to visit Liption seat,
Lipton’s Seat is a high observation point in the hills of Poonagala. Located on the top of the town’s namesake, Poonagala Hill, it is also near the Dambatenne Tea Factory. Lipton’s Seat is so named because the famed Scottish baron and tea planter Sir Thomas Lipton used it as the seat to survey his empire in a time long gone but not forgotten.

Day 13 :
Yala

This morning, proceed for a Safari at Yala National Park by Jeep. This is the most famous National Park where wild animals and birds could be observed. The Wild animals include Elephants in herds of varying sizes, Leopards, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, Crocodiles, and Peacocks, Jackal, Sloth Bear and other animals. Also, you may take an afternoon safari in the National Park to enjoy viewing wildlife as the sun sets.
Return back to hotel.

This morning, we proceed to Galle which is about 156kms/2h30m drive
Galle Old Colonial City
Discover the city of Galle, where the Portuguese and Dutch made their headquarters, and its secrets. Visit the Galle Fort which is one of the best preserved fortifications in Asia. View the Maritime Museum, Galle National Museum and the lighthouse. Walk through the cobblestoned streets with their Dutch names as you learn more about their histories.

After proceed to Bentota,

Check-in to hotel and spend the evening leisure by the sea.
