Itinerary

Arrive by (flt no) at (00hrs). Please clear immigration & visa formalities, collect your baggage and proceed to the arrival lounge through the green channel if you do not have goods to be declared to customs.

 

The Green Holiday Centre Representative will page you by your name. Thereafter you will be assisted to the Car park / Coach Park to begin you journey as per the booked itinerary.

 

Transfer to Anuradhapura.

Anuradhapura is a major city located in north central plain of Sri Lanka. It is the capital city of North Central Province and the capital of Anuradhapura District. The city lies 205 kilometers north of the current capital of Colombo in the North Central Province, on the banks of the historic Malwathu Oya.

After breakfast transfer to the Polonnaruwa sightseeing.

Poḷonnaruwa, also referred as Pulathisipura and Vijayarajapura in ancient times, is the main town of Polonnaruwa District in North Central Province, Sri Lanka. The modern town of Polonnaruwa is also known as New Town, and the other part of Polonnaruwa remains as the royal ancient city of the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa.

Evening visit Minneriya national park for Jeep Safari.

Minneriya National Park is a national park in North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The area was designated as a national park on 12 August 1997, having been originally declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1938.

Transfer to the hotel.

After breakfast leave for Sigiirya

Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress (App 02 hours to climb up and return)

Sigiriya – is home to the 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky” which is perhaps the most fantastic single wonder of the Island. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the fortress. Within its triple-moated defence the huge rock rises almost to a sheer height of 500ft. On its summit are the foundations of what was once a great and sumptuous palace and gardens complete with swimming pool. On one of the stairways the only known ancient work of Sinhala secular painting survived in the form of Frescoes of life sized damsels in all the freshness and delicacy of their original colour.

 

Transfer to Dambulla Cave Temple.

 

Dambulla – Famous for the five cave Temples on a rock.  The first 03 caves are better, older and larger than the other two.  Some caves dates to 1st C.B.C. All the 5 cave walls and ceilings are covered with Buddhist murals and there are more than 130 Buddha statues, statues of Gods and Kings are also found here.

 

Thereafter transfer to Kandy via visiting matale spice garden.

Matale spice garden – See the luscious Cinnamons, Cardamons, Pepper plants etc. You can also purchase your requirements of spices.

 

Late afternoon Kandy city tour.

Enjoy city tour of Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, Arts & Crafts Centre, Gem Museum.

Kandy – the hill capital, venue of the annual Perahera. The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere.

Overnight stay at Kandy Hotel

After breakfast visit Temple of the tooth relic.

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic – ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess’ hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka’s most prized possession.

 

Thereafter transfer to the Nuwara Eliya via visiting tea plantation & tea factory.

Nuwara Eliya – also known as ‘Little’ England’, was the favorite hill station of the British who tried to create the resort into a typical English Village. The old brick Post office, country house like hill club, with its hunting pictures, mounted hunting trophies and fish, and its strict formal dinner attire; the 18 hole golf course, race course etc., evoke nostalgia of Colonial British Ceylon. The flowers that bloom during the season add a splash of color to the landscape and a boat ride on Lake Gregory is a fun activity.

After breakfast transfer to Nanu Oya Railway Station.

Take the train up to Ella.

Ella – 06 miles from Bandarawela on the Bandarawela – Wellawaya road is the Ella gap with a view of the Kataragama range of mountains at the distance.  The Patna grasslands, Ravana Ella waterfalls (1080 ft. high) and Randeniwela monument could be seen on this route.

Yala National Park – 185 miles from Colombo. Yala National Park is 378 sq. miles in extent. Yala was

Established in 1938 from, what originally was a Sportsman’s shooting reserve.

This is the most famous and well developed National Park where wild animals and birds could be observed. The Wild animals include Elephants in herds of varying sizes, Leopards, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, Crocodiles, and Peacocks, Jackal, Sloth Bear and other animals. The bird-life comprises of about 130 species including the resident and migrants. Painted storks, Paradise Flycatcher, Grey Herons, Serpent Eagle, Sea Eagle, Black-Necked Stork, Spoonbills, and Pelicans add color to the bird-life in the park.

Transfer to Galle Dutch Fort.

Galle72 miles from Colombo.  This is the most ancient and important harbour of the country, until the Colombo Harbour was established.  Galle is identified as the ‘Tarshis ‘of the Bible.  This was captured by the Portuguese in 1587 A.D, Dutch in 1640 A.D, and British in 1796 A.D. Most of the existing buildings dates to Dutch Period.  The Bastians are still using Dutch names such as Zwart, Akesloot, Aeloes etc.  Famous for lace making, Ebony carving, Gem cutting & polishing, out on shooting chanced on Nuwara Eliya plains, and Sir Edward Barnes investigated on it.

Thereafter transfer to the Banetota for turtle hatchery.

On the south coast of Sri Lanka, turtles have laid their eggs for generations. Swimming in from the Indian Ocean, they drag themselves up the sand on the beaches near the city of Galle and dig their nests, where they leave the eggs. Weeks later, their babies should hatch and make their way down to the coastline and into the water.
